Lamine Yamal – A New Rising Star
Starting with the most recent highlight in Barça’s history: A few days ago, one of the club’s brightest young talents made history on home soil.
On 28 February 2026, Lamine Yamal scored three of Barcelona’s four goals, which was his first hat-trick as a professional football player.
At just 18 years and 230 days old, he became the youngest player in this millennium to score a hat-trick in a LaLiga match. Finding the net in the 28th, 38th and 70th minute, he played a decisive role in his team’s 4-1 victory against Villareal FC.
By almost single-handedly securing the win, he not only thrilled the home crowd but also earned praise from head coach Hansi Flick after the match. This performance marked another milestone in the rise of one of Europe’s most promising young players.
Five Goals on a Magical Champions League Night
On 7 March 2012, Lionel Messi wrote football history with one of the most remarkable individual performances in the history of the UEFA Champions League.
In the round 16 match against the German side Bayer 04 Leverkusen at Camp Nou, he scored five of Barcelona’s seven goals. His strikes came in the 25th, 42nd, 49th, 58th and 84th minute, demonstrating precision, composure and extraordinary talent.
With this achievement, he became the first player, since the introduction of the Champions League in 1992/93 to score five goals in a single match.
At the same time, he set a new benchmark for the most goals scored by one player in a Champions League game.
This special match marked the sporting highlight of his historic 2012 season, in which he had an incredible score of 91 goals overall, a record for the most goals in a single calendar year that still stands today.
That evening, often referred to as the “Messi Show” or a “historical gala”, once again demonstrated why Messi was considered as the best football player in the world.
The “Maradona-Esque” Masterpiece of 2007
A few years ago, a large fan vote was held to determine the most beautiful goal in the history of FC Barcelona.
Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi once again topped the rankings, being the scorer of all of the Top 3 goals.
The winning goal was his legendary solo strike in the 2007 Copa del Rey semi-final against Getafe CF.
In that match, the Argentine made a breathtaking solo run over two thirds of the pitch, dribbling past several players from the opposing team before calmly converting the goal.
The goal was frequently described as “Maradona-esque” because it closely resembled the famous 1986 World Cup goal by Diego Maradona.
This extraordinary moment established the then 19-year-old as the legitimate successor to Maradona and as the new rising superstar in the football world.
Seven Goal Contributions in One Unforgettable Match
On 20 April 2016, in an impressive 8-0 victory against Deportivo de La Coruña, Luis Suárez delivered one of the most remarkable individual performances in LaLiga history.
He scored four goals and provided three more assists for Rakitic, Messi and Neymar. In total, he was directly involved in seven of Barcelona’s eight goals.
With this performance, he became the first player in the 21st century to be directly involved in seven goals in a single LaLiga match.
His outstanding display ended Barcelona’s period of weakness, which had included three consecutive defeats, and made a significant contribution to them ultimately winning the league title that season.
To this day, this performance is one of the most impressive individual displays in the history of LaLiga.
Suárez’s exceptional campaign was later crowned with the European Golden Shoe award, recognizing him as Europe’s top scorer.
Standing Ovations at the Bernabéu: A Moment Beyond Rivalry
More than 20 years ago, on 19 November 2005, Ronaldinho experienced one of the most iconic moments in the history of the rivalry between clubs of Barcelona and Madrid.
Playing at the Santiago Bernabéu, on enemy soil, he scored two outstanding goals in Barça’s 3-0 victory against their Castilian rivals.
What made this moment truly special were the standing ovations given by thousands of Real Madrid fans after scoring his second goal. Given the long-standing rivalry between the two big Spanish football giants, this was an exceptionally rare gesture of recognition and respect for his sheer genius.
This was the first time since Diego Maradona in 1989, that a Barça player has received such an honor in Madrid, which is why this match is considered one of the most legendary encounters in the history of El Clásico.
Only a few days later, he was crowned with the award “Ballon d’Oro 2005” in recognition of his outstanding performances.
To this day, it is named as one of the most magical moments of Ronaldinho’s career and a demonstration of absolute footballing artistry, in which the Brazilian’s brilliance transformed the hostile atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu into admiration.
